19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.
However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.
The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour victory, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
